1. Key things to know
Before you proceed, please note:
- Marketplace only — not the builder. RoofHero introduces you to licensed contractors. If you hire a contractor, your building contract and all payments are directly with that contractor, not RoofHero.
- Prices shown are a guide. Our system uses aerial roof data and your brief. The final price is confirmed only after the contractor’s on-site inspection.
- Re-quote safety net. If, for the same scope, the contractor’s final price changes by more than 5% after inspection, RoofHero will re-open the tender so you can compare updated offers.
- Deposits and insurance certificates.
- NSW: Maximum deposit is 10%. For jobs over $20,000, the contractor must provide a valid Home Building Compensation (HBCF) certificate before taking any money (including a deposit) or starting work.
- VIC: For jobs over $16,000, the builder must provide Domestic Building Insurance (DBI) documents before taking any money. Deposit caps: ≤10% if contract < $20,000, ≤5% if ≥ $20,000.
- How we get paid. Contractors set their own prices. If you hire through RoofHero, the contractor pays us a referral fee. We don’t add a separate fee to your price.
2. Scope of these Terms
These Terms apply when you use roofhero.com.au to scope, request, receive and compare roofing quotes, and to communicate with contractors. By clicking “I agree” (or similar), you accept these Terms and consent to electronic communications. You must be 18 or older and legally entitled to engage a contractor for the property.
3. Our role
We provide an online marketplace to connect homeowners with contractors.
RoofHero does not perform works, supervise worksites, or handle your payments.
We are not a party to the building contract between you and any contractor.
4. Estimates, inspections and final pricing
- Prices shown are estimates only, based on roof data and your brief.
- The contractor must verify the scope on-site before confirming the final price.
- If scope changes are discovered, the contractor must explain them and provide revised pricing.
- If the same scope changes price by more than 5%, RoofHero will re-open the tender.
